Low dose computed tomography lung screening has received much attention since the US Preventive Task Force published its initial recommendations in 2013. Because of the proven benefits, those recommendations were expanded in 2021.
To date, however, little attention has been paid to the importance of the ongoing surveillance and management of patients with incidentally found lung nodules. This creates a significant opportunity to improve the care of all such patients by developing a comprehensive incidental lung nodule surveillance program.
